7.Aug.2015-DAY3

Two days have already passed since I landed in Okinawa. By reading through the diaries of the lasf year participants、I knew we were visiting somewhere called OIST during AYDPO but wasnt actually sure where that was. Today was the day given to me to know what OIST was. It was a institute school of technology, which aimed to develop he technology and at the same time、save the environment. We listened to three lectures in the lecture room and I was really thankful given the time to listen to the lecture of the professors in oist , and especially meet someone who worked in a broadcasting corporation since my dream is a newsanchor. The lectures provided us a chance to think about why we have to know about the environment. At the same time I was able to understand why AYDPO was held in Okinawa. If it was not aydpo, I wouldnt have known that Okinawa is a place really related to the environment. After the lecture, we were able to look around the rooms and science labs in oist. It is such a wonderful thing to have a dream, passion, and a will to help others. It seemed like oist members satisfied all of these factors. After dinner, there was Katayabira which we could talk about the problems we faced for 2days.

5.Aug.2015-DAY1

Today is officially the start of the programme, and also marks the birth of Team Kijimuna (for justice!). We – the group members – met each other for the first time and quickly got along through the various games and jokes we shared. In the afternoon, we went to experience the Haari boat race. It was really fun as we got to interact with the groupmates and got to know them more. I found out that we have excellent teamwork and enthusiasm, which would really help with our team projects. That night we had more team building exercises. They were really funny and fun to do, and I began to trust my teammates more. I’d like to think that our group laughed the loudest.

Aug.13 2014 – Day10

Aug.13 2014

The day began as usual, wake up at 6.30am and breakfast at 7.30am. After breakfast, we continued with a lecture from a special guest, Mr. George Hara. He talked about iPS Cell and the new phenomenon of regeneration medicine. I found this the most interesting because it’s unbelievable to think that technology and research have advanced so much that it would be possible to regenerate organs some day. He also talked about Zambia’s case, and how the Jews and the British had exploited them for the production of copper. He also continued his discussion on public interest capitalism and face-to-face banking.

After lunch, we started working on our mid-term presentation and our group had many ideas to discuss. Discussing our ideas had made me think through mine more thoroughly. It was a challenge coming up with a business idea that everyone could agree with but in the end, we managed to pull through.
